Are you using the same design and layout as First Edition?

While the First Edition design and layout was great for inspiring the feeling of a survivor’s journal that you were getting the information from, it wasn’t without problems. Most notably we found that it generally made reading more straining over a longer sitting, and also made locating information require more effort than we had intended.

With that in mind we have taken a number of steps with the design and layout of the 2nd Edition books to ensure these speed bumps are all a thing of the past while still providing that feeling of looking through a journal compiled by a survivor. This includes less use of “handwriting” fonts as well as relying on a more traditional columns format of presentation.

If you would like a sneak peek at the new layout and design you can check out the Official Quick Start Guide available for free on DTRPG (linked in the Campaign details).

If I have the Starter Kit, what extra cards are in the card sets in Add-ons?

Those who purchased the Starter Kit to get an early look at 2nd Edition received 80 reference cards along with it featuring a mix of Characters, Traits, Missions, Opponents, Gear (Regular, Weapons, and Loot), and Injuries. This means there were really only a few instances of each particular category of cards in the deck.

The decks in the Add-ons each contain 60 reference cards minimum for the particular category of cards they represent: 60 Traits, 60 Gear, 60 Weapons, and 120 Loot. Assuming you get all the decks that is 300 total reference cards - more than 3x than were in the Starter Kit.

Some of these cards will feature information seen on the cards in the Starter Kit, but many more will be new cards that you did not previously have available for play. So while you will have a few duplicates, which is by no means a bad thing as it just reduces sharing at the table, you’ll also have a load of new content made readily available for use at the table.

I'm a "222 Club" Member, will I get my discount still?

First of all, welcome to the new project!

Basically we’re going to be cashing in a $50 value on your pledge.

This means that the “222 Club” covers the $35 Pledge or the $50 pledge outright.

This will be handled with our Pledge Manager after the Campaign has concluded. This means you will be initially charged the full cost of whatever Pledge Level you decide to make on the Campaign, and will then be issued a credit via our Pledge Manager.

When do you expect fulfillment to be, some pledges say January but others say August?

The reference to January 2018 on some Pledge Levels is the default date assigned by Kickstarter and is a mistake. All physical copies of the Core Books will be no earlier than August of 2018, with PDF’s being delivered several months before that. Some Stretch Goals may be delivered later based on production time as these cannot begin development until we know we have the funds to unlock them, and will be released as they become available.

How are Add-ons being handled, and how exactly do I add them?

You can select your Add-ons (if they are included in your Pledge Level) or purchase them in addition to your Pledge via our Pledge Manager after the Campaign has concluded. If you know your going to do the Add-ons you can add the money now to your Pledge if you would like to help us try and unlock more content.

For Tiers with 3 Standard Add-ons, can I get any three even if they are different prices?

You bet, mix and match however you like! You probably won’t EVER need 3 Loot Decks, but if you want them that’s an option.

Can you explain the Premium Add-ons?

Premium Add-ons are premium because they cost more than the standards. Also most (if not all), will only be available either direct from us or through this Kickstarter. We do have to unlock Premium Add-Ons before they become available in Supply Cache or for Backers to add to their Pledges. The Supply Cache, which includes the Premium Add-ons, is a convenience pledge for those who want ‘everything we unlock’ - but not the Survival Kit.

What is the deal with the duplicate "FIRST RESPONDER - Stocked and Locked" Pledge Level?

They always say that you’re the best editor once you’ve hit SEND.

Nothing could be more true. We’ve spent WEEKS scrubbing over this campaign, yet very quickly we learned there was a mistake in the copy of one of our pledges that we need to clarify.

The “FIRST RESPONDER - Stocked and Locked” pledge referred to a ‘Stronghold Guide’, this product was, at first, a stand-alone book. But we decided that 3 books was too many, and made efforts to include the content into the Gamemaster’s Guide. Right now you’ll see this pledge at the bottom of the campaign and locked as ‘no longer available’

Something that may not be very clear to people who haven’t run a Kickstarter before is that as soon as someone backs a level, you CANNOT change it. This is, of course, to protect the backers from creators ‘bait and switching’ rewards away.

The recommendation from Kickstarter was to create a DUPLICATE PLEDGE that has the correct copy, and ask backers to MOVE THEIR PLEDGE to the DUPLICATE PLEDGE. Once that OLD PLEDGE was empty, it could be removed.

If you look into the pledge levels, you’ll see the correct option there. Waiting for you.

We want to be clear - we are not taking away rewards from this pledge. We are just moving people over to the correct one to remove confusion about the Stronghold Guide (though it appears we’ve created a lot of confusion in the meantime). You are also not losing the content that was going to be in the Stronghold Guide as it has been worked into the Gamemaster’s Guide.

Thank you for your patience!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
